back at it, and bathtub bubbles

The first school day of 2025 saw the kids off in the early morning cold and me a few hours later to trapeze. You’d think Genevieve might have gone easy on us on the first day back, but instead she pushed us through one-legged skinner and amazon and back balance to crazy angel. Brutal but so satisfying.

I purposefully took the bus home which adds 30 minutes to my normal hour long tube ride, but it was more than worth it for the sake of an hour+ phone date with Vida, accompanied by gorgeously colorful scenery along the way. Then Michal called me just as that ended and I wandered my chilly neighborhood and slowly turned to ice talking with her as she strolled a quite opposite-in-temperature SoCal beach.

The boys and I had a quiet dinner as Bill went out to an event. We watched a couple shows, they responsibly went to bed early, and I snuck upstairs to Jess’s empty room (she's in Italy for two nights) to take a bath under the stars. Literally the sky was startlingly clear and I could see the tree tops and stars from my rose-scented bubble bath. Great way to end my first Monday of the new year.
